Bishop Joseph Dinh Duc Dao, former Bishop of Xuan Loc Diocese, has ordained 8 deacons and 8 priests for the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam.
The ordination Mass was held at 8:30 a.m Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 38 Ky Dong, District 3, Saigon.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Mass for the ordination of priests and deacons was simply held within the Congregation. No relatives, friends of the candidates as well as the laity people were able to attend due to the restricted number of participants.
Concelebrating at the ordination Mass with Bishop Joseph were Father Joseph Nguyen Ngoc Bich, Provincial of the Redemptorist Province, Father Dominic Nguyen Duc Thong, Vicar, and some other confreres in the Congregation.
Bishop Joseph Dinh Duc Dao, in his homily, said to the candidates that they were chosen to serve God and to serve His people. Bishop Joseph invited candidates to be in a closed relationship with God and take God as their inheritance. In this way, they can live the evangelical counsels and serve God’s people, following the example of the Most Holy Redeemer
According to the program of the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam, the ordained priests and deacons today should have been ordained at the beginning of July, but due to the pandemic outbreak, the ordination had to be postponed after three months.
We, together with the Redemptorist Province of Vietnam, and with the newly-ordained Redemptorists, give thanks to God and continue to pray for them to live and carry out the mission entrusted to them by God.
